  • Under the auspices of International day of Yoga, a special Yoga programme was organized at Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College, Sivakasi on 21.06.2017. Dr.A.Johnson, Head, Department of Physical Education, Health Education and Sports welcomed the gathering.
  • Video clippings on Yoga were screened to sensitize the students about the basic concepts and importance of Yoga. Dr.V.Pandiyarajan, Principal of the college delivered the keynote address on the theme “Yoga for Health” highlighting the importance of yogic practices. He stressed that yoga and meditation help us to develop our physical and mental well being and at the same time ensure longevity.
  • Yoga helps to cultivate discipline and to improve their mental abilities to perform their duties better. Yoga helps to refresh our body and mind. It also reduces tension and stress thereby resulting in physical and mental stability. Yoga serves as an ailment for most of the diseases like diabetes, respiratory disorders, hypertension etc.

  • Yoga has been made mandatory for the welfare of the students a special yoga Instructor has been appointed to train all the first year undergraduate students of ANJAC. To create awareness about the goodness of Yoga an online Essay competition and quiz competition was conducted on the topic ‘Yoga for Health’ and prizes were distributed to the winners. The Students of N.C.C, N.S.S, Physical Education and inmates of the Hostels participated in this programme. The Yoga Instructor trained nearly eight hundred students.
  • Various asanas like Tadasana, Vrkasana, Pada-Hastasana, ArdhaCakrasana, Trikonasana,Bhasrasana, Vajrasan, Ardha Ustrasana, Sasakasana Uttana Mandukasana, Vakrasana, Makarasana, Bhjangasana, Salabhasana, Savasana and pranayama were performed by the students. Dr.N.Tensingh Balaiah, Programme officer, N.C.C, proposed Vote of thanks. Dr.J.Paul Jeeva Singh, Director of Physical Education and Yoga Instructor Mr. G. Ramesh had made the arrangements for this special Programme.
