From the date of conferment of Autonomy on us (1987-88) two controllers’ offices are being functioning, one for U.G. Courses and another for P.G. Courses. The reformation of examination system and adaptation of evaluation tools in our campus are the outcome of the innovative curriculum designed by us. Since the curriculum designing is a never ending process, so also the reformation in the examination system. Indeed, we have crossed only a few meters in our journey of Evaluation and Examination processes in 28 year Autonomy and there are many more kilometer to travel. A few exclusive features and healthy practices achieved in the few meter travel are listed below.

  • Setting question papers by external examiners following Bloom’s taxonomy of education objectives, wherein the knowledge type questions have been limited to only 50% of the total marks
  • Double valuations both in U.G. and P.G. levels from the year of conferment of autonomy (1987-88)
  • On-line registration for examinations
  • Evaluating M.Phil. dissertations by two experts in the filed concerned - one within Tamil Nadu and other, out side Tamil Nadu on par with the evaluation of Ph.D. thesis, conducting colloquium and public viva-voce for M.Phil. students
  • Introducing on-line evaluation of M.Phil. dissertation
  • Sending examination duty to the Course Teachers to their e-mail ID’s
  • Giving student’s photo-printed, personalized examination time-table incorporated Hall Ticket
  • Having Eco-friendly on-line comprehension test for P.G. students in all semesters generating computer-assisted question papers from Question Bank
  • On-line publication of the results, sending the results of the terminal examinations of  students through SMS to their parents immediately after the on-line publication of results
  • Sending the results of P.G. degree courses individually to the e-mail Id of the course teachers and to the staff-guardian concerned
  • Partially generated question bank for P.G. Courses as per Bloom’s educational objectives
  • Conducting video-conferencing viva voce for M.Phil. students

Healthy practices to be realized in our future plan

  • To introduce eco-friendly on-line examinations for all theory papers, generating computer-assisted question papers from the established question bank
  • To introduce flexi-timing examination schedule to students
  • To conduct Repeat examinations every semester to the students so that they can clear the arrear papers within the semester concerned
  • To introduce evaluation by the computers to minimize the bias in the evaluation by human elements
